The Zetland Country House

Welcome to the gracious world of Zetland House...
Zetland Country House Hotel stands on the edge of Cashel Bay in Connemara, an area of outstanding beauty. In this untamed landscape of mountains, lakes and white sandy beaches, this country house hotel is an oasis of elegance and warm
hospitality. Owned and managed by John and Mona Prendergast, and their son Ruaidhri, Zetland House invites you to enjoy gracious living as it used to be in times long gone.

The House, built originally as a Sporting Lodge in the early 1800s, derives its name from the Earl of Zetland, a frequent visitor in the last century. Today, the Prendergast family has recreated the charm and elegance of those days combined with
all the sophisticated luxury expected by discerning guests. But the natural beauty of Connemara is never far away. From the main reception rooms and bedrooms, you look over gardens rich in flowers, shrubs and trees, sweeping down to Cashel Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Visits to Local Islands
Many of our visitors like to visit the famous Aran Islands or the less well known but equally beautiful Inis Bofin. There are ferries at regular intervals to both of these islands… and don't worry they will bring you home as well.
Tours of Connemara
Local maps are available at reception and one of the Prendergasts will be happy to indicate scenic drives, areas of interest and the best shops or places to have a snack en route.
